Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Programme 2020 to 2021
Each year Risk Management Authorities are invited to bid for funding to deliver a programme of capital works.

These works should help to deliver the aims of the National Strategy. We do not accept bids directly from individuals or organisations who are not Risk Management Authorities (RMAs).
You should approach your local RMA if you wish to:
- discuss flood or coastal risk in your local area
- report any instances of flooding
The flood and coastal programme is then prioritised towards the communities most at risk of flooding. This is set out in our National Strategy and is in line with our technical guidance and grant memorandum.
The Flood and Coastal Risk Programme Board provides funding advice to Risk Management Authorities. An announcement is made each year to confirm projects receiving funding for the year ahead.
For 2020 to 21 we have:
- increased support to RMAs
- introduced a new Natural Flood Management programme and announced the first projects to receive support.

The Welsh Government are investing £55.7 million in the flood and coastal programme for 2020/21.
This includes:
- £28 million capital for developing and building schemes
- £27.7 million revenue which helps support wider flood and coastal risk management activity.
