The Property Infrastructure Fund (PIF) and Property for Business Development Grants (PBDG) are part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and seek to increase the quantity of high-quality employment floor space available to Welsh businesses.
Main findings
- Original targets for PIF and PBDG were unobtainable, 4 projects were run under each operation.
- The management and delivery processes have worked effectively and efficiently.
- Main delivery challenges related to the long timescales required to progress projects.
- Funded premises are now occupied or have tenants waiting to move in.
- Clear evidence shows PIF/PBDG has led to investment in local areas.
- Benefits from the operations include creation of jobs for locals, improved productivity, improved client engagement and staff morale.
- Operation has evidenced clear value for money.
- The operation has made a wide range of contributions to Cross Cutting Themes particularly sustainability and tackling poverty and social exclusion.
