Original consultation
We are seeking views on our proposals to strengthen the regulation of alternative providers of higher education courses to safeguard the student experience and ensure effective use of public funds.
Consultation description
This consultation is about the designation of ‘alternative providers’ of higher education. Alternative providers are organisations that are not publicly funded and deliver courses of higher education (they are also referred to as private or non-public providers).
We intend to implement changes in the way alternative providers are designated to:
- safeguard the student experience by undertaking more rigorous checks on organisations applying for a designation
- provide for greater assurance of the effectiveness of the expenditure of public funds.
