Introduction
The Welsh Government is conducting a user engagement exercise to gather your views on what data might be of value to you, in relation to the Welsh language outside Wales, and how you might use it.
This feedback will help us better understand the needs of our users and ensure that any data collected is relevant and useful.
This privacy notice explains how we will collect, store, and use your personal data as part of this survey.
What data do we hold and where do we get this information?
Personal data is defined under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) as ‘any information relating to an identifiable person who can be directly or indirectly identified by reference to an identifier’.

Your email address will allow us to recontact you if we need clarification on any of the answers given, and details about you or your organisation will help us gain a better understanding of the types of respondents. Providing this information is voluntary.
If you choose to provide additional personal data as part of the research, for example in open text boxes, we will not to identify you from, or link your identity to, the responses you provide.
When responding to this user engagement exercise, the Welsh Government will become the data controller for any information you provide.
Any information you provide will be used anonymously and will not be publicly attributable to you unless we ask for your consent.
Responses will be collected using SmartSurvey. SmartSurvey has issued assurances that they meet UK GDPR standards. You may also wish to read the privacy policy on SmartSurvey.
How long do we keep your personal data?
The Welsh Government will retain your email address, and any personal information you provide as part of your response, for up to a year, and will only use it if we need to contact you for clarification or follow-up regarding your responses you have provided. We will not share your personal information with any third parties.
Any non-identifiable information (such as a summary of the decision we make based on feedback from all users) will be retained indefinitely.
