This is not the latest release in the series: Creative Wales Industry Survey
Series information:
The report sets out findings from the Creative Wales Industry Survey 2022. This survey was conducted in April 2022 and covers a sample of businesses and freelancers from the screen, music, digital and publishing sectors in Wales.
Main findings
- The survey was completed by 344 respondents from the publishing (51%), screen (19%), music (16%), and digital (14%) sectors, with around a third self-employed or freelancers.
- The sectors reported mixed experiences with regards to business performance and turnover, highlighting that impacts of COVID-19 have been positive for some, whilst negative for others.
- Improving profitability, improving marketing opportunities, and growing the workforce are the top three key priorities amongst the sectors.
- Overall, businesses are more confident than not about running their business profitably next financial year.
- A fifth of businesses have had difficulty recruiting in the last year, with most attributing this to skills gaps in the workforce or among applicants.
- The industry would benefit from further financial support, increased opportunities for networking, and improved availability of business support and advice.
