Ministers’ contact details. Explains how your communications are handled.

Communications with ministers

You can contact Welsh Government ministers by email or post. There is no need to use both methods. Please note that postal responses will take longer. Therefore, we recommend using email for quicker communication. If you provide an email address, we will respond via email only, even if you initially contacted us by post.

Your correspondence may be passed to a subject expert for reply on behalf of the cabinet secretary or minister.

We may be unable to provide a response if your correspondence:

  • contains offensive language, is aggressive or abusive.
  • is illegible or cannot be read/understood.
  • is selling or promoting a product.
  • is concerning a matter not devolved to the Welsh Government or does not ask any questions of the Welsh Government.
  • is only a link. Due to cybersecurity concerns e-mails that only contain links or directions to watch videos will be deleted automatically.
  • is copy correspondence (which is usually read, filed and retained only)

Please avoid:

  • unreasonable demands and persistence - unreasonable conditions and repeated similar requests make it hard for us to provide a service both to yourself and others.

Response time

We aim to reply within 17 working days. However, if your correspondence is complex or during periods of high correspondence volumes, it may take longer. For information related to the following please check our guidance pages before contacting us, as they may already address your questions.

Single response policy

You will receive a single response from the Welsh Government. Please direct your email to only one minister to ensure a comprehensive and timely reply. The response will come from the office holding the main portfolio responsibility or their officials on behalf of the Welsh Government.

Ministerial responsibilities

Each minister’s page lists their areas of responsibility. You can find links to these pages under each minister’s heading below. For non-devolved matters, please contact the relevant UK government departments.
