Amendment to the pence per mile rate of mileage contribution for own car travel applied through the Disabled Students Allowance and the undergraduate Travel Grant for academic year 2022 to 2023 (SFWIN 07/2022)

Welsh Government has increased the pence per mile rate of mileage contribution for own car travel from 24 pence per mile to the HMRC recommended rate of 45 pence per mile for all eligible disabled students making travel allowance claims and for all undergraduate students making travel grant claims for academic year 2022 to 2023.
Motorcycle travel will remain at 24p per mile as this aligns with the HMRC recommendation.
The change will apply for all claims submitted for travel undertaken in the academic year 2022 to 2023 for new and continuing students.
Retrospection will not apply for claims received in academic year 2022 to 2023 but which relate to travel in a previous academic year.
The rate will be reviewed annually.
