Board structure
The Chair explained the role and purpose of the Board:
- scrutinise Welsh Government, and other bodies charged with delivery, on progress
- report annually on progress including national data on active travel outcome measures
- bring together delivery partners to share best practice and identify challenges
The Board agreed that active travel to school (chaired by Chris Roberts and Rhiannon Letman) and inclusive active travel (chaired by Christine Boston) should both be set up as sub-groups of the Board.
Active travel delivery plan
Welsh Government provided an update on the background and progress of the draft Active Travel Delivery Plan.
In response the Board felt the Plan demonstrated a lack of data against targets and lack of synergy. Members agreed this it improved since the previous plan but felt it is not ambitious enough, even whilst considering constraints on resources. The Chair agreed to meet with the Future Generations Commissioner to discuss how they could support active travel.
