The Inspire! Project is a 12 week up skilling project aimed at young people aged 16-25 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).
The project offers weekly youth work activities and professional support to help young people reach their future goals and crucially, enables young people from very rural areas to build supportive friendships with others in a similar position.
Whilst on the course, participants lead their own community project which encourages community engagement and enables young people to build links with local organisations and employers and to take ownership of a budget.
The project works closely with partners to offer a range of exciting opportunities for the young people, including the chance to take part in a 2 day sea voyage.
The judges felt that the Inspire! project represented an innovative approach to engaging with young people in a rural context whilst promoting community integration by encouraging young people to lead their own community project.
