Kirsty Williams, Cabinet Secretary for Education
I am pleased to be able to share the remit for the National Academy for Educational Leadership (NAEL) with you. As well as identifying the NAEL’s strategic priorities and objectives the remit letter sets out the budget for the remainder of this financial year as well as an indicative budget for 2019-20 of £1 million.
The strategic priorities are clearly linked to Our National Mission and are:
• Develop the NAEL as a strategic organisation with a positive and inclusive culture and robust governance
• Contribute to the development of the professional capabilities of current and aspiring leaders across the education system by providing coherence and quality assurance for the range of educational leadership development opportunities available in Wales
• Act as a thought leader; developing, articulating and implementing a vision and strategy for educational leadership in Wales;
I am also pleased that the NAEL has recently completed the recruitment of members to its Stakeholder Group. This group, alongside a Union Stakeholder Group, will provide support and challenge to the organisation, ensuring that the voices of education professionals from across the sector are an integral part of the Academy’s governance.
The remit letter has been published on the Welsh Government website http://learning.gov.wales/resources/collections/national-academy-for-educational-leadership?lang=en
