Singing the Sun in Flight: Poetry at the Senedd is a programme of events at the Senedd organised by Literature Wales to raise the profile of poetry and spoken word.

At a time of increasing division and global insecurity, poetry has the potential to connect us and help us make sense of the world. It can teach us how to imagine and respect the experiences of others and can help communicate complex ideas and policies in a way which is relatable to our everyday lives.

With nine events over the next four years, Singing the Sun in Flight: Poetry at the Senedd will provide a platform for diverse voices from across Wales and engage people of all ages and backgrounds. It also shows our commitment to championing Wales’ literary culture.

The launch event will take place at the Pierhead between 11.30 and 1.30 on 14 June. All Members of the Senedd are invited to the inaugural event. The event will feature a variety of poetic performances by writers associated with one of Literature Wales’ flagship projects – Representing Wales.
