I would like to inform Members that a consultation document setting out proposals for the introduction of a table valuation system for TB compensation has been published today on the Welsh Government website.
My objective is to ensure that we have a TB compensation system that is fair to cattle keepers and taxpayer and encourages cattle keepers to play their part in tackling the disease.
As I said in my Written Statement issued on 21 October 2013, I am keen to hear the views of stakeholders on these proposals and will consider these very carefully before taking a decision on whether to implement any changes to the existing system.
The consultation on these proposals will run for 12 weeks until 22 April 2014. Details of how to respond are set out in the consultation document.
