On Friday 26 June, I was pleased to meet Northern Ireland’s Minister for Finance and Personnel Arlene Foster MLA, to discuss a range of issues of mutual interest to our devolved administrations.

With the forthcoming UK Spending Review, the meeting provided an opportunity to explore common concerns, including welfare reform, the impact of further austerity and the need for the UK Government to invest more in capital infrastructure to support jobs and growth.

In August, I will be meeting my counterparts in Northern Ireland and Scotland to agree a joint position on key issues to the UK Government ahead of the Spending Review.  I am committed to working together with the Northern Ireland Executive and the Scottish Government to deliver the best possible outcomes for the people of Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
