Members will wish to be aware of a new Sports Facilities Capital Loan Scheme available to Local Authorities in Wales to improve their sport and leisure facilities.
The interest free loan scheme launched today will support efforts to develop and maintain a physical environment that makes it easier and safer for people to choose to be more physically active. The specific aim of scheme is to assist in transforming local facilities into a sustainable network of provision that meets local needs to increase participation in sport and active recreation. As well as supporting innovative solutions to provide more effective and efficient services, the scheme will encourage projects that maximise the use of the outdoors and natural environment.
Local Authorities will be invited on 30 March 2015 to submit expressions of interest for the loan scheme.
