Lesley Griffiths AM, Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs
Following feedback from the Welsh Fishermen’s Association (WFA), I am pleased to announce a new scheme under the European Maritime & Fisheries Fund (EMFF), administrated by Rural Payments Wales (RPW).
The new Standard Cost Scheme will be open to small-scale coastal fishers who are active in the fishing industry and support, safe sustainable, innovative and resource efficient fishing. The scheme will simplify the application process for fishers to access the EMFF in Wales.
An online application form will be available to Welsh Fishers on RPW Online today, and will remain open for 4 weeks.
There are 2 application forms available online:
- One for health and safety equipment, where fishers can apply for items such as life rafts, radio equipment, anti-slip paint and fire extinguishers.
- One for equipment which will add value to a catch, which will include items such as on-board ice machines, vacuum packers, shellfish pots and table top smokers.
Fishers can apply using either or both of these forms, depending on the items they want to purchase. The items have been pre-determined by Welsh Government based on the needs of fishers, and which will be grant funded at a standardised cost.
In order to apply for the Standard Cost Scheme, fishers must register for an account with RPW Online, where the application and claims processes will be hosted. Details can be found at:
