The latest update of the WIMD ranks was in 2019. The index ranks small areas in Wales according to their relative levels of multiple deprivation. A range of indicators underlie the index ranks.
The WIMD 2019 interactive tool is a great way to view deprivation statistics for small areas of Wales (called Lower Super Output Areas or LSOAs for short).
Further information on WIMD 2019 can be found on our index guidance page.
Since the release of the WIMD 2019 Index in November 2019, we have published additional data and analysis, including on deep-rooted deprivation, analysis of protected characteristics by area deprivation and counts of people in income and employment deprivation.
For more details on published and planned WIMD 2019 resources, please see the ‘WIMD 2019 timetable of outputs’.
