Stephen James Chair
Stephen James was appointed chair of the Wales Animal Health and Welfare Framework Group in July 2018.
His term of appointment has been extended until 2025.
Stephen has a wealth of experience in the farming sector. He held the position of NFU Cymru President for 2 terms and was director of the Agricultural Supply Cooperative CCF.
Stephen continues his passion as a dairy farmer, with a keen interest in animal health. This was triggered by a breadth of experience of TB, both on the farm and involved with Government bodies.
Stephen is a community councillor and has sat on the National Federation of Young Farmer’ Clubs and Wales Council. He was also recently the President of the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Show. Here, he was involved in organising events for schools (attended by over 1000 students), which discussed the origin of food.
Stephen is a Welsh speaker and enjoys travel and debating, once hosting Brian May on his farm to hold a public debate on TB and badgers.
Stephen is a firm supporter of cooperation and working together to support a wide variety of stakeholders.
