Overview

Wales is part of the UK. Your right to stay in Wales depends on the UK’s immigration rules.

You can claim asylum in the UK if you’ve left your own country because you were treated badly, or you’re scared that you will be treated cruelly, for a reason including:

  • your race
  • your religion
  • your nationality
  • belonging to a particular social group, such as child soldiers or trafficked children
  • holding a political opinion

The law says that asylum claims should be made as soon as possible after someone arrives in the UK.

There are 4 different stages for children seeking asylum to stay in Wales:

  • applying to stay in Wales
  • the asylum processes
  • after your asylum interview
  • your rights when you are in Wales

We’ve developed 4 videos on the guidance to help you. Each video is available in 14 different languages:
