Our senior team

Interim Managing Director and Programme and Business Director: Geoff Ogden

Geoff is currently on secondment to Transport for Wales as Interim Managing Director and Programme Director for the procurement of the Wales and borders rail service and Metro. He has significant knowledge of the Transportation sector, particularly in Wales. His wider experience includes leadership and support of change programmes, including the introduction of innovative and challenging solutions and technology. Geoff has also been involved in a wide range of procurement and tendering exercises alongside service delivery: as client, client’s adviser, and tenderer.

He is a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Chartered Environmentalist and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). Geoff is the Regional Member for Wales on ICE Council. He is immediate past-Chair of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering in Wales (ACE Cymru Wales) and in 2012-13 Geoff was Chairman of ICE Wales Cymru.

Operations Director: Mal Drury-Rose

Mal currently leads the franchise operational aspects for the new Wales and Borders rail service and South East Metro as Franchise Operations Director for Transport for Wales. Previously, he had a long, extensive career in the Rail Industry since the British Rail era before becoming Head of Rail for the Welsh Government in 2009. Mal has extensive industry experience in operational and commercial management including intercity, regional and commuter services working at senior level for Virgin, First Group and National Express train operating companies.

Commercial Director: Gareth Morgan

Gareth holds the position of Commercial Director in Transport for Wales a position he has held since his secondment from Welsh Government in December 2015. Prior to his secondment he was the Welsh Government’s Deputy Director for Public Transport.

Gareth has held a number of roles in Welsh Government he has developed sector leading practices such as the development of innovative commercial relationships with infrastructure providers. These practices helping to deliver of billions of pounds of projects on time and within budget. His other major achievements within the Welsh Government have included the purchase of Cardiff Airport in under 6 months whilst ensuring appropriate commercial protections were in place.

Gareth is also a professional Civil Engineer who has looked after a huge variety of multi-million pound projects from design stage through to construction. This experience involved a variety of infrastructure types and commercial arrangements from the more typical buildings, tunnels and bridges to the establishment of Cardiff Harbour Authority.
