We administer the Drink Drive Rehabilitation Scheme (DDRS) in Wales.

If you have been convicted of a drink offence, you may be able to undertake a DDRS course. If you are not offered the course when you are sentenced, you should ask for it.

There are a number of companies that offer the course in Wales. You can find a list of approved course providers in the 'List of approved course providers in each region'. Alternatively you can search for your nearest course on the Gov.UK website (external link).

The course

  • research shows that attendance on the course significantly reduces the likelihood of reoffending
  • it can reduce your driving ban by up to 25%
  • it may reduce your insurance premium

The cost of the course will be between £150 – £250 depending on the provider. Some companies may offer reductions if you are on benefits and may let you pay in instalments.

Length of course

Usually 3 separate days over a period of at least 14 days.

Read the leaflet for more information about the course.
