The Welsh Government is committed to tackling inequality and discrimination and to spreading opportunity.

In particular, we are committed to engaging with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities so that we fully understand the key issues that need to be addressed in Wales.

Our 2017-20 All Wales BAME Engagement Project, delivered by EYST, is gathering views and experiences in order to shape future policy-making, so that it better reflects and responds to the needs of BAME communities in Wales. Priority issues identified by the project to date are

  • Racism and Islamophobia
  • Racism in schools
  • Discrimination in employment practices
  • Representation in public life.
The Wales Race Forum is another important channel for dialogue, providing expert support and advice on key issues affecting BAME communities in Wales.
