Ruth Crowder

Supporting the Welsh Government with professional advice on Allied Health Professionals.

Wales’s Chief Therapies (Allied Health Professions) Advisor is Ruth Crowder.  

Her role includes:

  • providing Welsh government and ministers with professional advice relating to 13 Allied Health Professions (Art therapy, Dietetics, Drama therapy, Music therapy Paramedic, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Prosthetics, Psychology, Occupational therapy, Orthoptics ,Orthotics, Speech and language therapy)
  • professional leadership for the Allied  Health Professionals in Wales.
She works closely with the Executive Directors of Therapies and Health Science and the Welsh Therapies Advisory Committee. 

Ruth qualified as an occupational therapist in Cardiff in 1983 and has practiced in both NHS and Local Authority Social Services. She was previously a lecturer in Cardiff University and was the policy officer for Wales for the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
