We see close partnership working and engagement with all interests as key to developing an effective marine plan for Wales.

Development began with publication of the Statement of Public Participation in June 2014 which set out our intentions on how we would be engaging with the wide range of people with an interest in the marine area. The Statement of Public Participation has been revised.

Draft Vision and Objectives and the proposed structure of the Welsh National Marine Plan.

Engagement and consultation continues to inform development of the Welsh National Marine Plan with documents being shared for comment at key stages. The Welsh Government sees this engagement as a crucial part of the Plan’s development. A draft of the marine plan is being shared for comment from early November 2015 through to the end of January 2016.

The Welsh Marine Stakeholder Reference Group has been established and meets regularly to advise on the development of the marine plan. The group brings together representatives from industry and organisations to ensure balance in development of a clear and effective marine plan.

In November 2015 we shared an Initial Draft of the Marine Plan and at the same time conducted a series of public drop-in sessions around Wales to give maximum opportunity for the people of Wales to have an input (external link).

As part of our work to ensure we understand marine plan users needs we have sought views on the benefits and opportunities that marine planning offers (external link).
