Support for Investments on Board Fishing Vessels – Measure I.8 (Article 32: Health & Safety)

‘Measure I.8 - Article 32: Health & Safety’ will cover the costs of purchasing and installing equipment that:

  • improves safety for fishermen on board fishing vessels
  • improves the health conditions for fishermen on board fishing vessels
  • improves hygiene conditions for fishermen on board fishing vessels
  • improves working conditions on board fishing vessels

Investments must go beyond the requirements set out in Union or national law.

Grant Amounts:

Grants can range from a minimum of £800 to a maximum of £80,000.

The maximum grant rate for small scale coastal fishermen or for a project which is related to the small scale coastal fisheries fleet is 80%.

The grant rate for SME private organisations who are not small scale coastal fishermen and for projects which are not related to the small scale coastal fisheries fleet is 50%.

Applications can be submitted by: 

  • fishermen / owners of fishing vessels that are on the EU fishing fleet register and which land the majority of their catch to a port in Wales

Applications will not be accepted from businesses or individuals who:

  • have been convicted of fraud under the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) or the EMFF
  • have been convicted of a ‘serious infringement’ or fraud in the 12 months before applying
