We aim to maintain a viable and sustainable scallop industry in Welsh waters, whilst safeguarding important marine species and habitats.

The regulations in place to manage the fishery include technical, temporal and spatial restrictions. The Scallop Fishing (Wales) (No.2) Order 2010 (external link) prohibits scallop dredge fishing in areas which have been identified as important to vulnerable marine species and habitats.

Under the 2010 Order, the fishery opens annually on 01 November and closes on 30 April.
