We offer trade development support to food and drink producers throughout Wales.

The support ranges from offering primary producers and growers tips on selling at the local farmers' market through to account managing a multi million pound contract with a major retailer. We also offer specific sectoral support for varied industries such as fisheries, horticulture and dairy.

The Welsh Government mentoring scheme is delivered by a team of food industry specific mentors. A typical mentoring project will last up to 12 months with the mentor offering support through face to face meetings and telephone and email support.

Companies that are on the mentoring scheme have reported a range of improvements to their businesses. These include increased profitability brought about by improved management structures, improved internal and external communications, more effective distribution, and improved marketing strategies leading to an increase in sales with existing and new customers.

Client Feedback for the Mentoring Scheme

"The mentor is highly regarded by us. He has a wealth of practical experience in running a food manufacturing company. When you ask for advice, the answer is based on actual experience not text book theory."
(Ieuan Edwards - The Welsh Sausage Company, Conwy)

On St David's Day we promote our food and drink at some of London's most prestigious retailers, under the Trade Development Programme. Welsh Government support has provided these producers with the opportunity to access these markets and we are proud to promote our produce in London.
