The Welsh drinks sector is an important part of our food and agricultural industry.

We are seeing a growing international reputation for our beer, cider, perry, wine and spirits brands. Within Wales there is a diverse range of Welsh alcohol producers of varying scale and ambition. They range from high profile award winning brands to small-scale artisan producers selling in local pubs and direct to consumers at food festivals and other events.

We want to ensure that we have even more successful drinks producers and processors in Wales. As a result, we hope to raise the profile of what Wales has to offer when it comes to attracting tourism.

We are mindful of the balancing act which is needed in this sector. The promotion and consumption of Welsh alcoholic drinks should be carried out with an emphasis on the importance of doing so in a responsible manner.
