European protected species

Natural Resources Wales carries out European protected species licensing.

From 01 April 2013, Natural Resources Wales took over the work previously carried out by the Countryside Council for Wales, Forestry Commission Wales, and Environment Agency Wales.

Natural Resources Wales now issue all species licences under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (external link) and 2010 Habitats Regulations (European protected species licences) (external link).

Apply to Natural Resources Wales (external link) for Wildlife and Countryside Act and European Protected Species licences.

Information on licences issued by us before 01 April 2013 have been transferred to Natural Resources Wales.
