What funding is available?

£100,000 is being made available to improve voter registration. The funding is to benefit as many people in our target groups as possible. We will be looking for evidence from applicants of a national or regional reach.

We anticipate funding around 6 third sector organisations with grants of around £15,000. However, we will consider funding larger or smaller grants depending on the level and range of applications we receive.

About the grant

Our Programme for Government includes a commitment to reduce the democratic deficit. It is our priority that registration numbers of newly enfranchised voters increases. This includes first time voters and voters from under-registered groups.

We aim to fund a range of organisations to ensure that each of our target groups are reached, and will also be looking to ensure a geographic spread. The grant panel will consider value for money in their decision making.

Who can apply for the grant?

Welsh based organisations that are registered with The Charity Commission.

We welcome applications that propose partnership and collaborative working. There should be one lead applicant who is registered with The Charity Commission and will act as the grant holder and data controller.

We will not accept applications from any organisation with a party political affiliation.

Required criteria

Successful applicants are expected to join the Welsh Local Government Registration Partnership. The Partnership meets on a monthly basis.

Successful applicants will also be expected to provide a short evaluation at the end of the grant term to Welsh Government officials.
