Survey on attitudes towards managing children's behaviour

Bookmark and Share
  • Release date: 3 June 2014
Twelve questions about attitudes to parenting practices and child discipline were asked of 1,022 adult respondents (of which 56% were parents).

These were included in the November 2013 wave of the Wales Omnibus Survey.

The aim of the research was to collect data on:

  • the methods used by parents in managing their children's behaviour
  • the attitudes of both parents and the wider community towards physical punishment
  • where parents obtain information that inform their practices.

The report presents a factual representation of the results and does not examine causal links.
