Review of research evidence on the effectiveness of different approaches to promoting early speech and language development

This report presents findings from a Rapid Evidence Assessment (REA) of international research on successful early language development (ELD) interventions for children under four years old.

It concludes by identifying key features of successful interventions and consideration of early language assessments for bilingual/ multilingual children and practitioner training associated with the interventions reviewed. The findings will be used to inform future guidance and delivery of the ELD entitlement in Flying Start.
