Pamela Morgan
Nominated for Citizenship award
For the last 14 years, Cardiff-based Pamela Morgan has volunteered with the Welfare Rights team of Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
She has made an outstanding contribution to the health and wellbeing of vulnerable older people by carrying out home visits to help and advise them on making benefit claims. In her years of volunteering Pam has visited between 4 and 6 people a week, totalling 3,000 visits and over £1m in benefit claims. Pamela has developed an extensive knowledge of benefits for older people. Applications for Attendance Allowance and Disability Living Allowance applications can be complex, especially for those in poor health or who have physical or sensory disabilities.
Her dedication, life experiences and excellent communication skills have improved the lives of countless older people over a considerably long period of time. In 2011 Pamela was appointed Chair of Tenovus Cardiff Ladies Committee which over the last 15 years has raised £250,000 for the cancer charity.
Between 1999-2004 she volunteered at Ninian Park Junior School on a weekly basis helping years 1 and 2 with literacy and numeracy.
