Nominated for Culture award

Hynt is the national arts access scheme for Wales, aimed at enhancing arts accessibility and equity for Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent people.

An Arts Council of Wales scheme managed by Creu Cymru in partnership with Diverse Cymru, the scheme significantly boosts members’ quality of life, social engagement, and access to arts experiences.

Since the scheme started in 2014, Hynt has revolutionised access to the arts for its 35,000 plus cardholders, offering complimentary essential companion tickets and ensuring that theatre and arts venues across Wales are more accessible to all.

Its reach has grown to include 45 member venues across Wales.

Hynt delivers substantial social return on investment, estimated at £6.05 for every £1 spent.

Participating venues report increased income, a more diverse audience, and improved customer service, with each complimentary ticket yielding additional revenue.

Hynt cardholders report substantial benefits, including enhanced independence, greater self-confidence, and increased social opportunities. The scheme has also helped alleviate feelings of isolation, with 81% of cardholders noting improved social interactions.

Generating £24 million in social value annually, supporting local economies and arts venues by increasing visitor numbers, the work of the Hynt scheme is exceptionally impactful, demonstrating both compassion and strategic leadership in accessibility.

The success of Hynt has inspired the cultural development agencies across the UK nations to come together to develop ‘All In’, a UK access scheme which aims to improve the experience of D/deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent people when attending creative and cultural events.
