Dr Ceri Lynch

Ceri is a consultant in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant and critical care research lead.
She is a highly regarded clinician within the workplace and amongst patients and is considered an outstanding role model for women in clinical science. During the past 10 years she has also developed as a leader. Ceri was at her team’s forefront in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, displaying clinical leadership and research into causes and treatments to improve clinicians’ knowledge about critical illness. During the pandemic she often acted as a spokesperson for the media about work at the ICU and the challenges facing her staff.
Ceri also leads the Welsh Intensive Care Society Audit and Research Group which is a multidisciplinary network of clinical staff from health boards across Wales who care for the critically ill and have an interest in research. She is also currently leading on research in to how immersive virtual reality (VR) treatment can help the rehabilitation and recovery of some patients experiencing trauma following treatment in an intensive care unit.
Ceri is also a huge supporter of the team of staff around her – both professionally and personally. In turn she is very highly regarded by her team and patients alike.
