The Welsh Government and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) have launched a consultation on proposals to tackle waste crime and poor performing sites in the waste management industry.

Part 1 - Proposals to enhance enforcement powers at regulated facilities

Proposals to amend existing powers such as The Environmental Permitting Regulations 2010 to strengthen Natural Resources Wales’ enforcement powers to tackle waste crime and poor performers in the waste management industry in Wales.

Part 2 -  A call for evidence on other actions to tackle waste crime and poor performance in the waste management industry

Inviting views on other measures to help tackle waste crime in Wales including the introduction of Fixed Penalty Notices for fly-tipping and the re-introduction of technical competence and financial provision requirements to operate a facility and make adequate financial provision to enable site remediation.
