Powys County Council has achieved 13.4% annual savings using the NPS framework for the Supply of Tyres and Associated Services.
Working with the council to specify bespoke service levels and requirements, the NPS organised a further competition for the procurement of its fleet’s tyres. The council was able to ensure accurate pricing by providing information on tyre usage using the eTenderWales portal.
As a result of the procurement the council has achieved £12,569 (13.4%) annual savings, improved levels of service with availability of a comprehensive range of tyre types, brands and sizes, a choice of suitably qualified suppliers and effective contract management.
It has also been able to maximise the benefits from the Welsh Procurement Policy Statement.
Previously, the council’s in-house staff had used two other collaborative frameworks with ad-hoc purchasing below OJEU thresholds.
Tom Simmons, Procurement Specialist, Powys County Council said:
“Accessing the framework was a simple process. It was particularly helpful to have the process run by NPS because this saved us a huge amount of time. The NPS have been on hand to offer advice and assistance throughout the process, attending the initial contract meetings with ATS to ensure a smooth contract start.”
