Original consultation
Consultation on proposed legislation to establish a new qualifications body for Wales.
Consultation description
This document seeks your views on our proposals to establish Qualifications Wales as a new body to be responsible for qualifications in Wales. Our proposals aim to strengthen and simplify the qualifications system in Wales in order to facilitate the development of qualifications that are more relevant and responsive to Wales’ needs.
As recommended in the Review of Qualifications in Wales Qualifications Wales will initially undertake quality assurance functions which are comparable with the regulatory functions currently carried out by Welsh Ministers.
In the longer term it is proposed the new body will also take responsibility for awarding qualifications such as GCSEs A-levels and the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification in Wales.
