Andrew Evans has been shortlisted for his work as the owner and Managing Director of the St Brides Spa Hotel in Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire.
The property, located high on the headland above the village of Saundersfoot, was purchased in 2000 with the aim of creating South West Wales’ first luxury destination spa hotel. The hotel has been transformed into a luxury escape retreat with stylish décor and contemporary artwork throughout. Since its transformation, the hotel has won a number of awards including AA Hotel of the Year 2011-12 and Best Place to Stay 2013 at the Wales National Tourism Awards. He now employs 90 staff at the St Brides Hotel and Spa and the recently developed apartments on the site but also The Mermaid Restaurant and The Marina fish and chip restaurant all in Saundersfoot. The hotel spends in excess of £2m a year supporting local suppliers and residents and promoting the use of local produce. He is heavily involved in all aspects of tourism within Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire and Wales and is committed to raising the profile of the region and a passionate advocate for quality. Andrew is the founding Chairman of Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism, is actively engaged with the Harbour Commission, a member of Saundersfoot Development Trust, a Governor of Pembrokeshire College and a Board Member of Swansea Bay City Region.
