On 26 October, the Met Office Hadley Centre published the latest version of the UK Climate Projections (UKCP18). The projections brought to the fore the impacts from climate change we should all expect in the coming decades, including warmer summers, wetter winters and further sea level rise. Welsh Government thanks the Met Office for their significant and pioneering work.
UKCP18 will help inform the development of the next Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA), a statutory document produced by Defra which helps governments understand the risks and opportunities from climate change and put policy in place to adapt to those impacts. When contributing to the latest CCRA, published early 2017, Welsh Government made a commitment to publishing a new Climate Change Adaptation Plan for Wales.
Today, I am pleased to publish our draft Climate Change Adaptation Plan for Wales, for public consultation.

The plan sets out a framework and 32 actions to develop Wales into a prosperous country, resilient to the impacts of climate change. The plan also recognises the importance of UKCP18 and includes actions to use this data for research and guidance over the next five years.
I welcome your views on the draft plan, which will help inform the development of the final document which will be published in spring 2019. The consultation will close on 4 March 2019.
