Leighton Andrews, Minister for Educations and Skills
In a joint Statement that the Minister for Local Government and Communities and I issued at the beginning of October, we advised Members of the action that is being taken to address the shortcomings identified during the inspection of education services for children and young people in Anglesey. We said that we would keep Members informed of progress in respect of establishing a Recovery Board to support the authority.
In February I updated members when I added a further member to this taskforce to strengthen their knowledge, expertise and experience with representation from the Primary Education Sector.
Today I am announcing a further change to the recovery board’s membership, as I am replacing the Welsh Government official on the board with a further independent member namely, Viv Thomas.
Viv Thomas is a former Corporate Director for Education, Leisure and Lifelong Learning at Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, former chair of the Education Structures Task and Finish Group for the Frontline Services Review and former member of the Pembrokeshire Ministerial Board. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Board.
I will continue to keep colleagues updated as progress is made.
