Rt. Hon Carwyn Jones, First Minister of Wales and Huw Lewis, Minister for Education and Skills
Following a debate on the Welsh Language Strategy A living language: a language for living in a plenary session of the National Assembly on 12 March 2012, it was agreed that the National Assembly:
"Calls on the Government to establish a task and finish group to plan for increasing the number of communities where Welsh is the first language".
As a result, a Task and Finish Group chaired by Dr Rhodri Llwyd Morgan was established.
The Report and proposed Work Plan published today reflects the wide range of evidence considered, as well as offering a Work Plan based on the findings of the Group. We welcome this report, which makes a number of important recommendations. We will now consider the recommendations and respond fully in due course.
The cost of the work was £1,860.
In the meantime I would like to express our thanks to Rhodri Llwyd Morgan and the members of Task and Finish Group for their work:
- Rhodri Llwyd Morgan, Chairman
- Sali Burns
- Cllr. Dyfed Edwards
- Owain Gruffydd
- Lynne Reynolds
