This statement provides an update on the work of the Independent review of the Community Council sector.
On the 23 June I issued a call for expressions of interest for the remaining two panel members of the Independent review of the Community Council Sector. I am pleased to announce that Jessica Morgan, Pembrokeshire Local Action Network for Enterprise and Development and Edward Humphreys, Town Clerk for Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council have been appointed as the final two members of the panel following the call for expressions of interest.
Jessica has extensive background working in the local community as part of her role in PLANED. In south west Wales, she has been facilitating community-led local development and managing European LEADER funds for the past 18 years.
Edward has been a local council clerk since 1996, with experience of community and town councils, small and large, in both rural and urban environment. He is currently serving as Town Clerk for Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council and as Clerk to the Council for Churchstoke Community Council.
Jessica and Edward join co-chairs Gwenda Thomas and Rhodri Glyn Thomas and Councillor Kathryn Silk and William Graham as panel members.
The panel held their first meeting on 11 September. The panel are keen to seek views of all stakeholders and service users to ensure the review and any recommendations formed are relevant, appropriate and can better support community councils to make a difference to their local communities.

It is intended that the review will run for a year. It is anticipated that the Panel will report on its findings in autumn 2018.
