Spotting sepsis in children awareness leaflet

Dear colleague,

At a meeting with the Sepsis Trust UK earlier this year, Eluned Morgan, the former Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care and now First Minister, agreed that further work should be carried out to raise awareness in the community about the signs and symptoms of sepsis in children.

We have worked with the Sepsis Trust to develop a leaflet providing information to parents and care providers of children to help them spot the signs and symptoms of sepsis. To ensure that this leaflet is fully communicated a link to the printable version of the leaflet is provided for you to use during your consultation process.

The leaflet provides a symptoms checker and reminds everyone to be ‘Sepsis Savvy’. Clinicians will need to follow the Association of Medical Royal Colleges’ Statement on the initial antimicrobial treatment of sepsis.

The link to the Sepsis Awareness leaflet can be found on the Welsh Government website and from NHS 111.

Primary care providers, community pharmacies, and community nursing teams can issue this leaflet to parents and care providers to help them look for the signs and symptoms of sepsis.
