Privacy notice for the here to help with the cost of living user research.

Introduction

The User Experience Team at the Welsh Government would like to engage with people in Wales to gather your views on how to make it easier for you to find and access information and support with the cost of living and challenges you may face. The aim is to engage with a broad range of people with different needs to ensure that access to information and support works for everyone. The User Experience Team will be conducting the User Research on behalf of the Tackling Poverty Team and the Social Justice Communications Team.

Your participation in this research is completely voluntary, however your views and experiences are important to help us improve access to information and support available to you.

The data collected from the User Recruitment survey will be used to screen participants for interviews and to inform the final research report. The User Experience Team at the Welsh Government want to ensure we speak to a wide range of people across Wales with all different needs including those of different ages and backgrounds etc. The answers you provide in the user survey and will all be anonymised in the final report, no identifiable information will be shared outside of the User Experience Team.

As part of the research the User Experience Team will need to collect the following personal and special category information:

  • Name
  • Work/personal e-mail
  • Any impairments that may affect how you access information and support (Your choice)
  • Any impairments your family members may have (Your choice)
  • Age range (Your choice)
  • The age range of your family member/members (Your choice)
  • Ethnicity (Your choice)
  • Sex (Your choice)
  • Where you are based in Wales (Your choice)
  • Personal and household income, including benefits

If taken to the interview stage of the research the User Experience Team will need to collect the following personal and special category information:

  • your image (photo or video)
  • Your voice (video and/or audio)

The Welsh Government is the data controller for the personal data. The lawful basis for processing information in this exercise is our public task, that is, exercising our official authority to undertake the core role and functions of the Welsh Government.

Where the information amounts to special category data we will process it “in the substantial public interest of ensuring equality of opportunity” as set out in the GDPR Guidance.

Any personal data you provide for this research won’t be shared outside of the User Experience Team or members from the Tackling Poverty Team and the Social Justice Communications Team. This data will not be used by them or Welsh Government for any other purpose.

The possible activities that you could be involved in are filling out a Survey and an in person User Interview session.

The User Experience Team would like to record the interviews. This will be made clear to you before the session. If you do not want to be recorded, you will have the option to choose not to be before the interview session. You will not be identifiable from your comments.

If you choose to provide further personal data as part of the research, we will not identify you from, or link your identity to, the responses you provide. If you raise a query or complaint and provide personal data requesting a response, the researcher will forward the request only to the relevant official and subsequently delete it from the research data.

Recordings will be deleted when they are no longer needed and will be held for no longer than 2 years. Personal data will not be included in the final report and will be removed at analysis stage of the Usability Testing. Any personal data not already removed will be deleted three months after the end of the project.
