Introduction

Museums, archives and libraries provide crucial services and support for communities across Wales. They are sources of knowledge, education, and enjoyment for those who visit.

Modernisation of facilities to upgrade access, enable joint service working and renew the offer to users is vital for maintaining and improving the services provided. The Welsh Government acknowledges this and is supporting development through its capital funding programme.

Changes to the application process

For 2025 to 2026, we have made some changes to the application process of the scheme. An expressions of interest (EoI) will now be required in the first instance.

Other changes include a redesigned application form and earlier support from advisers, to help applicants to submit the strongest applications possible.

How to apply

All interested parties are required to contact their relevant sector adviser via culture@gov.wales for advice on their potential project before the 14 June 2024.

Advisers will release the EoI paperwork to projects deemed suitable, once the application window has formally opened on 3 June 2024.

We will also be hosting a series of workshop webinars to provide advice and guidance to applicants.
