Nominators
The St David Awards celebrate the achievements of the people of Wales. The Welsh Government takes its personal information obligations seriously and this document sets out how Welsh Government (as data controllers) will process the personal data you submit throughout the Awards process. Any personal data will be processed in the public interest and in the exercise of official authority vested in us.
We will always ensure that any personal data we receive in relation to the Awards is stored securely and seen only by those people involved in processing the nomination in relation to the St David Awards such as Welsh Government officials and appointed contractors involved in the nomination process.
The personal data will be retained for 12 months following the Awards at which point it will be deleted.
Under data protection legislation you have the right:
- to access to the personal data that we are processing about you
- to require us to rectify inaccuracies in that data
- to object to processing (in certain circumstances)
- for your data to be ‘erased (in certain circumstances)
- to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) who is our independent regulator for data protection.

Nominees
The St David Awards celebrate the achievements of the people of Wales. There are 9 St David Awards, all of which are nominated for by the public to recognise the commitment, dedication and hard work of the people of Wales.
As part of nomination process, the Welsh Government has received details of your name, job title and work and home email and address. Welsh Government takes its personal information obligations seriously and this document sets out how Welsh Government (as data controllers) will process your personal data throughout the Awards process. Any personal data will be processed in the public interest and in the exercise of official authority vested in us.
We will always ensure that any personal data we receive in relation to the Awards is stored securely and seen only by those people involved in processing the nomination in relation to the St David Awards, such as Welsh Government officials and appointed contractors involved in the nomination process.
If you are a finalist, your personal data (along with the name of your organisation) may be processed in the context of Awards related PR and press opportunities (pre and post event). These will include photography, media interviews, use of your case study / story in any PR, video, social media, TV and press.
Your personal data will be retained for twelve months following the Awards at which point it will be deleted.
If you wish to withdraw from the process at any time, please let us know by contacting stdavidawards@gov.wales. We will then delete all of the personal data we are processing on you for the purposes of the Awards.
