Nominated for Community spirit award
Mohammed (Mo) is a “proud Welsh Muslim” from Cardiff. A dedicated community Leader within the Muslim Council of Wales he has tirelessly served his community for over 15 years. His work, both behind the scenes and in the forefront, is entirely voluntary and driven by a selfless dedication to community.
As Director of Youth Projects at the Muslim Council of Wales, Mo has played a pivotal role in the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant which has forged a strong and enduring partnership with the military and extended the covenant’s reach to all member mosques of the Council.
Mo also spearheads ‘iLead’ a flagship youth Islamic programme designed to work with young people aged 16 to 24. The programme provides students with exceptional opportunities which enhance their employability, whilst also developing their religious identity.
Mo has been instrumental in establishing new mosques in areas with growing Muslim populations. Notably, he led fundraising efforts exceeding £90,000 to build a much- needed mosque in Pontypridd.
Mo’s selfless work, from youth projects to interfaith dialogue and community engagement has not only brought people together but has also shaped a more inclusive and supportive society.
