The Welsh Revenue Authority (WRA) has secured the highest level of accreditation in the Disability Confident scheme.
The scheme, run by the Department for Work and Pensions, recognises organisations who play a leading role in changing attitudes for the better.
The WRA has now secured Disability Confident Leader (Level 3). This follows the successful accreditation against the first 2 levels:
- Disability Confident Committed (Level 1)
- Disability Confident Employer (Level 2)
The accreditation, which lasts for 3 years, reinforces the WRA’s ongoing commitment towards being a fair and inclusive organisation.
Carl Alexis, Chief People and Communications Officer, WRA, said:
We’ve worked hard to create a fair and inclusive workplace culture at the WRA. I’m therefore thrilled we’ve gained this highest level of accreditation. As we grow, we’ll continue to build on this work by continually looking at ways to make our recruitment processes even more accessible and inclusive.
The WRA was assessed in 3 areas:
- evidencing data on employing disabled people
- sharing information on activities against the level 3 requirements
- giving assurance around recording and reporting on disability, mental health and wellbeing in the workplace
An independent assessor also commended the WRA for introducing innovative practices.
