Eluned Morgan MS, Minister for Health and Social Services
Today, I will publish the latest version of our COVID-19 vaccination programme update.
I am pleased to see that so many people are taking our advice and coming forward for their first and second doses; these are vital doses and enable you to have a booster. In January, more than 20,000 people got their first dose and more than 65,000 people got their second dose. If you have waited to have your vaccine, now is the time. Health boards are ready for you with walk-in sessions available across Wales for all doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. There are also contact details for health boards here and information on their social media. Our vaccination teams can answer any questions you may have about vaccination and support you to get vaccinated.
Children aged 5-11 who live in a household with someone who is immunosuppressed are eligible for the vaccine and need to complete a form to let health boards know that they need an appointment. The form is available here. Children aged 5-11 who are in an ‘at risk’ group will automatically receive an appointment.
The relaxation of protections and move into alert level 0 has been possible thanks to the hard work of everyone in Wales and the success of the vaccination programme. The vaccine is still a hugely important defence in our fight keep coronavirus under control and Keep Wales Safe.
