Dowlais Top junction will provide access to the A4060, Dowlais Top high street and Pengarnddu industrial estate.
Overview
Finishing works are ongoing, with the aim of having the junction operational by Christmas 2024.
This will allow A465 through traffic to travel over the junction.

What we’ve done
We have:
- moved utilities
- built a temporary road
- built slip roads
- built bridges at Jones Street and Dowlais Top junction
- created a lapwing habitat
- investigated and carried-out treatment work on mineworks
- installed and opened a new pedestrian bridge at Dowlais Ponds
The road has been built on embankment up to 30ft (9m) above the existing level.
